Certify Canine Welcomes New Certifier, Whit Buchman, in Kansas

Mesa, AZ– Certify Canine is excited to announce the addition of Whit Buchman to our growing team of expert certifiers. Based in Kansas, Whit brings decades of experience in animal training and behavior, with a strong commitment to positive reinforcement and fear-free methods.

Whit’s journey in animal training began in 1992 with his beloved Doberman mix, leading him to state and local obedience competitions. He pursued his passion further, earning a B.S. in Animal Ecology with a minor in Biology from Iowa State University. His career in the zoo field saw him rise to the role of curator before transitioning full-time to dog training in 2018.

As the founder of Buchman Best Behaviors, Whit has dedicated himself to helping families across Southwest Kansas and surrounding states develop better relationships with their dogs. His expertise spans basic obedience, puppy training, and working with reactive animals that require a patient and gentle approach.

Now, as a Certify Canine Certifier, Whit will play a key role in promoting accessibility and accountability for working dogs across the U.S. Certify Canine certifies Service Dogs, Therapy Dogs, and Facility Dogs—ensuring that handlers and their working animals have the recognition, credibility, and protection they deserve.

Certify Canine is the leading Certification Provider for Working Dogs, offering a rigorous, standards-based certification process that helps validate training and reliability. Unlike other certification programs, Certify Canine connects members to a third-party liability insurance with no common exclusions for working dogs, ensuring that handlers and businesses are protected. Through our national network of expert trainers and certifiers, we support dog owners in proving their animal’s ability, enhancing public trust, and maintaining industry standards.

“We are thrilled to have Whit join our team,” said Blake, CEO and Founder. “His extensive experience and dedication to humane, science-based training align perfectly with our mission of setting the standard for working dog certification.”

Whit’s addition to Certify Canine strengthens our commitment to providing top-tier certification and support for working dogs and their handlers. His knowledge and passion for ethical training make him a valuable resource for dog owners in the region.
